Seth Klarman is the billionaire CEO of The Baupost Group and the author of the legendary (and out-of-print) book "Margin of Safety." He is often described as the "Oracle of Boston" and is widely considered the intellectual successor to Benjamin Graham. Klarman is known for his extreme discipline and willingness to hold large amounts of cash when opportunities are scarce.

Investment Philosophy

Klarman follows a strict "Margin of Safety" approach. He focuses on risk management above all else, believing that if you avoid big losses, the winners will take care of themselves. He looks for "forced selling" situations, spin-offs, and distressed debt where assets are being dumped regardless of their fundamental value. He is a skeptic of modern financial theory and prefers deep fundamental analysis of balance sheets.
