FAQ — ETF comparisons 2026
Which ETF is the best?
There is no single best ETF — it depends on your goal. For long-term wealth building, a broadly diversified world ETF tracking the MSCI World or the FTSE All-World is the best foundation: cheap (TER often 0.12–0.20 %), automatically diversified across thousands of stocks and ideal for beginners. Thematic, country or dividend ETFs are useful additions, but no substitute for the core.
How do I find the right ETF?
Start by asking whether the ETF should be your portfolio core or a satellite. For the core, choose a broad world index (MSCI World or FTSE All-World). Then compare within the category by cost (TER), fund size, replication method (physical vs. synthetic) and distribution type (accumulating vs. distributing). This hub page links a detailed comparison with real ISINs for every category.
How many ETFs do I need?
For most investors, a single broadly diversified world ETF is enough to be globally diversified. Those who want more control often combine a developed-markets ETF with an emerging-markets ETF (e.g. 70/30) or add individual thematic and factor ETFs. More than three to five ETFs rarely adds value and only increases the management effort.
Are the ETF comparisons up to date?
Yes. All comparisons linked here are as of June 2026 and are continuously maintained. They contain real ISINs, current TER figures and a country-specific tax classification for Germany, Austria, Spain and Italy. The KIID/Key Information Document and the provider’s website for each product, however, always remain binding.
