What is the Trade Republic tax statement?

Trade Republic provides every customer with an annual Jahressteuerbescheinigung (annual tax certificate) — an official PDF with all tax-relevant data from the previous year:

  • Realised capital gains and losses from stocks, ETFs and crypto
  • Dividends (domestic and foreign, gross + withholding)
  • Interest income from the cash account (TR pays interest since 2023)
  • Pre-payment lump sum (Vorabpauschale) on accumulating ETFs (Germany only)
  • Already-withheld capital gains tax (Germany) or outstanding KESt (Austria)
  • Creditable foreign withholding tax (e.g. 15 % on US dividends)

Where to find the tax statement in the app

1
Open app → profile icon top-right

Tap the profile icon (your initials) at the top right of the overview. The tax statement is not in the portfolio view — it sits under the profile.

2
"Activity" → "Documents" → filter "Tax"

In the menu, find Activity. Then the Documents tab → filter Tax. All tax PDFs are sorted by year here: annual tax statement, loss-offsetting certificate, dividend report, etc.

3
Download the 2025 annual tax statement

Tap the desired PDF and share/export it via email or iCloud/Google Drive. You only need the annual tax statement — the other documents are backup or for special cases.

4
Submit via ELSTER (DE) or FinanzOnline (AT)

The PDF itself does not need to be uploaded — only transfer the figures into Anlage KAP / E1kv. Keep the original (10-year retention period in both countries).

🇩🇪 Germany: Filling out Anlage KAP & KAP-INV

In Germany, Trade Republic automatically withholds capital gains tax (25 % + solidarity surcharge + church tax if applicable). You only need to submit Anlage KAP if:

  • You did not fully use your €1,000 saver's allowance and want to credit losses or withholding tax
  • Your personal tax rate is below 25 % (favourable assessment "Günstigerprüfung")
  • You want to offset losses from prior years (carry-forward)
  • You want to credit foreign withholding tax over 15 %

48Withheld capital gains tax"Kapitalertragsteuer"

Anlage KAP-INV: Only needed if you hold foreign accumulating ETFs for which Trade Republic did not automatically calculate the Vorabpauschale (rare). Trade Republic flags this separately.

🇦🇹 Austria: Filling out the E1kv annex

Because Trade Republic is not a domestic Austrian reporting broker, every cent of capital income must be self-declared via FinanzOnline. From tax year 2024, Trade Republic also provides an "Austrian tax report" with values pre-formatted for AT — including deemed distributions for accumulating ETFs.

Key codes (Kennzahlen) in E1kv 2025

⚠️ Important for AT investors:

If you bought ETFs at Trade Republic before 2024, the historical cost basis may be missing in the tax report. In that case, supplement the values from older statements or consult a tax adviser — otherwise the punitive tax of 27.5 % on 90 % of proceeds may apply.

FAQ — Trade Republic Taxes 2026

When will the 2025 tax statement be available?

Trade Republic typically delivers the annual tax statement between 1 and 15 March of the following year. You'll receive a push notification in the app. German filers have until 31 July (with a tax adviser: February of the second following year).

Do I need to submit the tax statement to the tax office?

No. You only enter the figures into Anlage KAP (DE) or E1kv (AT). The PDF itself must be retained for 10 years — you submit it on request from the tax office.

What about crypto bought via Trade Republic?

Trade Republic offers BTC, ETH and 50+ cryptos since 2022. In Germany crypto is tax-free after 1 year of holding (§23 EStG) — Trade Republic flags this in the statement, but you must complete Anlage SO yourself. In Austria 27.5 % KESt applies regardless of holding period.

When will I see the 2026 Vorabpauschale?

The Vorabpauschale (pre-payment lump sum) for tax year 2026 is automatically computed by Trade Republic in early 2027 and debited from your cash account. Keep enough cash on the account — otherwise the ETF position will be partly force-sold. More in our ETF tax guide 2026.

Can I import the tax report into WISO or Buhl Steuer?

Direct import is not available (no open API format). You must transfer the values from the PDF manually into the tax tool — with a template this takes 5–10 minutes. Wundertax and Steuerbot have Trade Republic templates.

What if I only have savings plans and never sold anything?

Then in Germany you usually do not need Anlage KAP — as long as dividends + Vorabpauschale stay below the saver's allowance (€1,000) and no exemption order was set, no tax is due. With large savings-plan balances above ~€50,000 in accumulating ETFs, you should review the saver's allowance — the 2026 Vorabpauschale could exceed it.
