Investment Philosophy
David Einhorn is the founder of Greenlight Capital and one of the most prominent long-short investors of his generation. He gained fame for his prescient short of Lehman Brothers before the 2008 crisis and his detailed public presentations exposing accounting irregularities at companies like Allied Capital and Green Mountain Coffee.
Einhorn’s investment philosophy is rooted in fundamental value investing with a twist — he is equally comfortable on the long and short side, seeking mispriced securities in both directions. He combines deep fundamental analysis with a keen eye for accounting red flags, management quality, and corporate governance issues.
His willingness to make bold public calls on both fraudulent shorts and deeply undervalued longs has cemented his reputation as one of the sharpest fundamental analysts on Wall Street.
