Oil price

German: Ölpreis

The price of crude oil, usually measured by the benchmarks Brent (North Sea) and WTI (US), in dollars per barrel.

The oil price affects inflation, company costs and energy companies’ profits. It depends on the economy, output – for example by the OPEC+ producer group –, inventories and geopolitical conflicts. A barrel is 42 US gallons (159 litres).
