A leveraged certificate, popular in Europe, that expires as soon as the underlying touches a set barrier.
Knock-outs track an underlying with leverage, because the issuer finances most of the position. If the price touches the knock-out barrier, the product ends immediately, usually almost worthless. In German-speaking countries they are among the most traded retail products. Warrants are related, bank-issued options.
