Gamma

The measure of how fast an option’s delta changes when the underlying moves.

Gamma is largest at the money and shortly before expiry. Option buyers are “long gamma” and profit from big moves; option sellers are “short gamma”. When market makers have to buy shares heavily as prices rise to rebalance their delta, it’s called a gamma squeeze.
