An option pricing model in which the price can only go up or down in each time step.
At every node of the tree the option is replicated with shares and a loan. Working backwards from expiry to today gives the fair price. With very many small steps the result converges to the Black-Scholes formula. Binomial trees also work for American options that can be exercised early.
