ROIC

After-tax operating profit divided by invested capital – how efficiently a company uses its capital.

If ROIC stays above the cost of capital, a company creates value; below it, growth actually destroys value. Persistently high ROIC of 15–20% or more is a hallmark of quality businesses with a moat.
